The LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Terminal is strategically located in the industrial zone of the Port of Sines, in the locality of Sines, on the Portuguese Atlantic coast. In addition, the facilities include a mooring station designed to receive LNG carriers, which transport liquefied natural gas from various parts of the world, highlighting the robustness and modernity of its engineering.

The Sines LNG Terminal plays a fundamental role in Portugal's energy landscape. It acts as the main entry point for natural gas into the country, ensuring the supply of this essential energy source. Ships arriving here unload the gas, which is then processed and injected into the national transport network. The Fascinating Transformation of Gas

The functionality of the LNG Terminal is based on an ingenious transformation. Natural gas, to be transported by sea in large volumes, is cooled to a temperature of approximately -163°C, converting into Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). This process causes the gas to occupy a volume up to 600 times smaller than in its gaseous form. Once at the terminal in Sines, the LNG is returned to its gaseous state through a regasification process, becoming ready for distribution and use.
