Praia da Foz is located on the Alentejo coast, situated slightly north of the village of Porto Covo, in the municipality of Sines. It is integrated into the protected landscape of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The spot corresponds to the mouth of a small valley that gently descends towards the sea. Access to the beach is usually via a dirt road.
One of the most visible features of this beach is the presence of a large rock formation, positioned in the central area of the sandy expanse. This rock is not just a scenic element; it also functions as a natural shelter. On windy days coming from the sea, this formation can offer a more protected area for those seeking tranquility.
At this point of the coast, the Burrinho Stream reaches its destination and flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The presence of the stream gives a particular dynamism to the sandy beach, which takes on a somewhat distinct shape. With the variation of the tides, especially during low tide, an additional stretch of sand becomes accessible in the southern part of the beach, expanding the available space.
Praia da Foz stands out for its natural character and serene atmosphere. Far from large crowds, it is a place where the dominant sound is that of nature, inviting moments of rest and introspection. The dunes and coastal vegetation surrounding the beach contribute to the feeling of being in a more preserved location. There is also a small cave in the northern area that can serve as a refuge and offer some shade.
