It is an old windmill, which once formed part of the rural and agricultural landscape of the region. Currently, it is mainly its ruins that can be observed, testifying to its past existence.
This mill, like many others, played a fundamental role in the life of local communities. It was used to grind cereals, transforming them into flour, an essential product for sustenance. Its construction dates back to a time when wind energy was harnessed for this type of task.
The Moinho da Pedreira is in a state of ruin. The most visible structure is the base of its tower, built of stone, which has the typical cylindrical shape of this type of mill. The upper parts, such as the rotating cap and the sails, no longer exist.
Despite being a ruin, the site holds historical interest as it represents an economic activity and a traditional type of construction in the region. Its privileged location on the terrain allows for unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape, making it an interesting point for those exploring the area on foot and who appreciate heritage and nature.
