The São Filipe Windmills are located in the area known as Quinta do Lopes, in the city of Setúbal. Situated on the slopes of the Arrábida Mountain Range, they benefit from a strategic position that dominates the surrounding landscape, characteristic of Setúbal municipality's urban and natural area.
At this location, there are two windmills that give the property its name. These structures, emblematic of rural engineering of yesteryear, represent a link to the region's agricultural past. Their presence recalls the legacy of traditional activities and how wind was harnessed for milling, contributing to Setúbal's cultural identity and heritage.
From the São Filipe Windmills, a vast panorama unfolds. The gaze reaches the Sado River estuary, where its waters meet the Atlantic Ocean, and the horizon of the Tróia Peninsula. Throughout the day, the landscape is punctuated by movements in the estuary, from fishing boats to larger vessels. When night falls, the lights of Setúbal city and the opposite bank transform the panorama, creating a serene and enveloping atmosphere.
