Situated in the heart of Setúbal, the Statue of Carlos Rodrigues is located on Avenida Luísa Todi, one of the most emblematic arteries of the historic center. Its central position, on the avenue's median and in front of the Luísa Todi Municipal Forum, allows for tranquil observation and invites a pause during a city tour.
This sculpture is a heartfelt tribute to Carlos Rodrigues (1944-2016), affectionately known as Manel Bola, an inescapable figure in Setúbal's culture. The actor, poet, and artist, a native of the city, dedicated much of his life to theatre, cinema, and television, leaving a lasting mark on the local community. The statue serves as a recognition of his legacy and his deep connection to the Sadino identity.
Created by the plastic artist Jorge Pé-Curto, the statue is a bronze work that stands 2.15 meters tall. It depicts Manel Bola full-bodied, in a characteristic gesture: bowing with his beret in hand. This detail captures the essence of his personality and how he interacted with the public, symbolizing the respect and gratitude he had for his city and its inhabitants.
