Located in Azinheira, in Seixal, Quinta da Trindade has origins dating back to the late 14th century, when it was founded as a convent by the Order of the Most Holy Trinity. It was also the site of a hermitage dedicated to Boa Viagem.
The residence is an important example of Portuguese tile work, with approximately 8,000 tiles reflecting various periods, from the 15th to the 20th century. The building features Hispano-Arab panels, checkered tiles, and rare examples of the transition to traditional blue and white tiles.
The interior features 18th-century ceiling paintings, a polychrome wooden ceiling, and decorative elements collected from convents and monasteries after the extinction of religious orders in 1834. Also noteworthy are a coat of arms of the Noronha family and a Manueline window on the facade.
The Quinta's garden houses several species of exotic trees, including a dragon tree about 200 years old and a large rubber tree. The space is ideal for leisurely outdoor walks.
In addition to the main residence, the "Castelinho" (Small Castle) stands out, a smaller structure that evokes a medieval style. The "casinha da praia" (beach house), a neomedieval-style pavilion, provides direct access to the Tagus River, offering a unique view.
Quinta da Trindade has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1971 and is part of the Seixal Ecomuseum. The space is open to the public, making it an important cultural and historical attraction in the region.
The Quinta offers a space of tranquility and culture, ideal for those seeking a historical and natural location, with possibilities for visiting the various architectural elements, including the tile collection, pavilions, and garden.
