The Castle Garden of Santiago do Cacém is located in an elevated area of the eponymous city, in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém. Its position atop a hill offers a privileged perspective over the surrounding territory.

From this strategic point, it is possible to sight the vast plain stretching towards the Atlantic coast and the region of Sines, revealing the breadth of the Alentejo landscape merging with the coastal horizon.

This garden is integrated within the grounds of the historic Castle of Santiago do Cacém, a place that has witnessed centuries of human occupation. Its foundations date back to distant eras, with indications of the presence of Celtic tribes and subsequent Romanization, when the settlement was known as Miróbriga.

Throughout the centuries, the site was a stage for the passage of various peoples, from Visigoths to Muslims, and was consolidated after the Christian Reconquest by the Order of Santiago. The garden provides a space where one can feel the deep connection of the site with history, including the use of part of its dependencies as a cemetery in the 19th century, adding a layer of memory to the ambiance.
