Located in the countryside on the outskirts of Santiago do Cacém, in a quiet rural area with sea views and surrounded by nature.
Built in the 15th century by the Franciscan order, it was a place of great religious and cultural importance in the Alentejo until the 19th century, when it was deactivated.
Ruins with vestiges of Manueline style, such as ornate arches and details inspired by nature. The structure still allows identification of parts such as the old church and some outbuildings.
Original pieces from the convent, such as the Manueline portal, are preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Sines.
Access to the site is difficult and poorly signposted, especially for light vehicles. It is part of one of the routes of the Rota Vicentina.
Ideal for those who appreciate historical sites and peaceful landscapes. The ruins offer a unique environment for those who like to explore heritage with cultural and spiritual value.
Despite its historical potential, the convent is abandoned, in ruins and lacks appreciation by the responsible entities.
