Structure and Facilities

The auditorium building was designed to provide a comfortable and functional experience for its visitors. Composed of two floors, it includes an equipped stage, technical booths for projection, sound, and lighting, and a dressing room. In the entrance area, a welcoming vestibule serves as a transition to the interior, directly connecting to the ticket office. The foyer, a spacious and inviting area, is intended for public reception and has an information zone. On the second floor, there is an extension of this foyer, offering a visual connection with the lower floor through a gallery. The auditorium has a capacity of 242 seats, also ensuring accessibility for people with reduced mobility, with access ramps and specific spaces for wheelchairs.

A Homage to the Master of Portuguese Guitar

The auditorium's name is a homage to the master António Chainho, an emblematic figure of the Portuguese guitar and a native of São Francisco da Serra, in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém. This designation aims not only to value an important part of the local identity but also to bring visitors and the population closer to the rich cultural heritage of the region, strongly linked to music and, in particular, to fado. António Chainho dedicated his life to this instrument, exploring new sonorities and collaborating with artists from diverse cultures, becoming an innovator of tradition and an ambassador of the Portuguese guitar in Portugal and worldwide. The existence of a Portuguese guitar school in his hometown, founded by him, demonstrates his commitment to perpetuating this art.
