The Church of Santa Maria da Graça, also known as the Cathedral of Setúbal, is located in the historic center of the city, in the parish of Setúbal, in the Setúbal District region of Portugal.
This monument is classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1955, standing out for its historical and cultural importance.
The church was founded in the 13th century and is one of the main religious buildings in the city. The current building is a reconstruction from the Renaissance period, having been rebuilt with an imposing Mannerist-style façade.
Inside, highlights include the columns with frescoes, the gilded carvings, and the 17th and 18th-century tiles, elements that reveal the artistic richness of the church. The architecture is by António Rodrigues, and the location was built in the heart of the old medieval quarter of Setúbal.
Near the church, on the side street next to Terreiro de Santa Maria, it is possible to see the Gothic portico of the old João Palmeiro Hospital, a structure that dates back to the medieval past of the city.
