Praia Pequena is integrated into the urban fabric of the picturesque village of Porto Covo, in the municipality of Sines. It is located right on the seafront, in the central area of the locality, and is close to the street that gave it its name. This location is part of the coastal landscape protected by the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park.
This beach stands out for not having a traditional sandy area. Instead of sand, the ground is composed mainly of pebbles and rounded stones of different sizes. It is framed by high cliffs on the sides. In some areas of these rocky escarpments, it is possible to observe vegetation, such as ivy, growing and hanging over the stones.
Access to Praia Pequena by land presents a particularity that requires attention. There are no conventional stairs to facilitate the descent. To reach the beach level, it is necessary to use a rope fixed to the steep cliff face, which requires some dexterity and care. It is also a location accessible by sea.
Despite being located in the heart of the village of Porto Covo, Praia Pequena offers an atmosphere of privacy and tranquility. Its modest size and the natural protection of the cliffs create a more secluded space. It is a place that provides a sense of serene contact with the nature of the Alentejo coast, even while being just a few steps from the houses.
