Nestled on the coast of the Sines municipality, south of Porto Covo, Praia dos Canudos emerges in a stretch of low cliffs facing the Atlantic Ocean. Access is via rural paths, which preserves its natural surroundings and gives it a secluded feel.
The sandy beach extends along a discreet cove, without support structures, keeping the landscape almost untouched. From the top of the cliffs, one can see the undulating sea and the rugged outlines of the Alentejo coast.
The fine sand appears as a tongue of sand that changes dimension according to the tide. During high tide, part of the beach is submerged, revealing only small pools near the rocks.
At the top of the cliff, a primitive dune system supports pioneer vegetation, creating patches of soft colours between the golden sand and the discreet green of plants adapted to sea salt.
Tranquility reigns here: thanks to the difficulty of access, few people reach the beach and the sound of the sea stands out above any other human presence. It is common to find people practicing naturism or walking freely with pets.
The wild environment invites moments of introspection and direct contact with nature. Bringing only the essentials and respecting the space gives the visit a character of simplicity and authenticity.
