Buizinhos Beach is located in the town of Porto Covo, in the municipality of Sines, marking the southern limit of the village's coastline. It is nestled in a natural cove, facing south and flanked by cliffs that shelter it. The main access is via a staircase that descends the western slope.
This beach received its name due to the abundance of shells once found in its sands, particularly whelks (búzios). These shells were traditionally collected and used to create local handicraft pieces.
The sandy area of Buizinhos Beach is small and takes on a shell-like shape, fitting into the cove. Due to the tides, the size of the dry area available on the beach varies significantly, with the sand almost completely submerged during high tide.
The beach is framed by cliffs to the north and south, which contribute to its sheltered environment. At the top of one of the cliffs, there is an observation point that allows for contemplation of the view over the beach and the coastline. From this area, it is possible to glimpse the silhouette of Ilha do Pessegueiro in the distance.
Despite its proximity to the urban area of Porto Covo, Buizinhos Beach is often associated with a tranquil atmosphere. The air one breathes combines the characteristic scent of sea spray with the aromas of the vegetation covering the surrounding rocky areas.
