Serro da Águia Beach is located in the parish of Porto Covo, municipality of Sines, along the Vicentine Coast. It faces south, in a stretch where the Atlantic Ocean bathes the Alentejo cliffs. The sandy area is set within a natural amphitheater of golden sands, just below the coastal road, and is gradually revealed through a staircase carved into the hillside.
This small cove has a shell-like shape, with a small sandy area that narrows even further at high tide. The translucent and calm waters gently lap the shore, making swimming serene even on days with a gentle swell. Throughout the year, the tide creates a natural pool among the rocks, particularly visible during high tide, inviting the observation of underwater formations.
High, sloping cliffs rise on both sides of the cove, creating rock walls that block the wind and sculpt a play of light and shadow throughout the day. Hardy shrubs and succulent plants dot the more exposed faces with green. On the eastern side, a rocky tunnel, carved by the action of the tide over centuries, connects the main beach to small sandy cavities, accessible only at low tide.
Without lifeguards or support facilities, Serro da Águia offers a rarely disturbed context of tranquility, ideal for those who appreciate nature in its purest state. The silence of the sea and the occasional flight of coastal birds complete the experience. On the upper edges, the backdrop is composed of a carpet of low-lying vegetation and panoramic views of the Atlantic, perfect for moments of contemplation or photography.
