Located in the municipality of Grândola, in the Carvalhal area, Praia do Pego is situated on the extensive Alentejo coastline bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.
It lies south of Carvalhal Beach, with which it shares the vast sandy stretch, with no physical separation on the sand. Pedestrian access to the bathing area is facilitated by a boardwalk.
This beach stands out for its very extensive sandy area and light-colored sand, which stretches for several kilometers. It is flanked by a considerable dune cord, where coastal vegetation adds touches of green to the landscape.
The sea here is generally calm with clear blue waters, creating an environment conducive to rest and tranquility along the Alentejo coast.
Praia do Pego is annually recognized for its high environmental characteristics. It holds several awards that attest to the quality of its bathing water and the sustainable management of the coastal area.
Among the distinctions received are the Blue Flag and the Gold Quality classification, focused on water excellence, and also the recognition as an Accessible Beach, which ensures good conditions for all visitors.
The sea conditions at Praia do Pego are generally favorable for swimming and bathing, given the quality of its waters. The extensive sandy area invites long walks along the sea.
It is also a popular spot for sport fishing, sometimes hosting competitions and championships. During certain times of the year, the waves allow for surfing and bodyboarding.
