Praia do Norte is located in the town of Costa da Caparica, within the area known as Bairro do Campo da Bola. It is a beach situated on the coastline of the municipality of Almada, facing the vast Atlantic.
Geographically, this beach is marked by the presence of artificial structures that delimit it to the north and south: its jetties. These elements define its boundaries and influence the immediate coastal environment, separating it from neighboring beaches.
Praia do Norte's sandy area is characterized by a relatively fine sand strip with a considerable extent along the coast.
However, the tide has a significant influence on the available space. During high tide, a substantial part of this sandy area is covered by seawater, reducing the usable beach area. This is an aspect to consider when planning a visit, especially if you want more space on the sand.
To the east of the area closest to the sea, Praia do Norte's landscape is complemented by a dune system.
This dune cordon, although close to the urbanized area, is segmented by paths that allow access to the beach. Its development and shape are molded by natural conditions and interaction with the adjacent built-up area.
The jetties that flank the beach, in addition to their coastal protection function, are frequently used by fishermen. It is a common sight to observe their activity, casting their rods in the hope of a good catch, a reflection of the traditional use of this space.
Beyond the traditional use for sunbathing and swimming, Praia do Norte also attracts water sports enthusiasts. The sea conditions in this area are suitable for various modalities, contributing to the beach's dynamism and vibrancy.
