The beach is located in the parish of Sesimbra (Castelo), on the Atlantic facade of the Sesimbra municipality. It stretches across a vast sandy area facing the Atlantic Ocean, with an unobstructed view of the maritime horizon, free from significant construction.
Access is via a trail carved into the cliff, starting from a point marked by a small freshwater spring that descends the cliff face to the sand.
The environment remains naturally preserved, without extensive infrastructure or beach support facilities. The immensity of the sandy expanse invites tranquil strolls, where the sound of the waves mixes with the wind and the aroma of coastal vegetation.
On clear days, the cove offers a sense of isolation and silence, where one can observe only the marks left by the tides and the paths of small streams that flow down to the sea.
The cliffs display warm tones of orange and ochre, remnants of the so-called Fossil Cliff that holds shapes and textures sculpted by erosion over millions of years.
At the base and top of these sedimentary walls, low-lying vegetation – such as steppes and broom – adds a contrast of greens and yellows, highlighting the natural diversity of this stretch of coastline.
