Praia do Espingardeiro is situated on the coastal front of the village of Porto Covo, in the municipality of Sines. It is located within the protected area of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The beach is nestled between cliffs, in an area bordering the urban fabric.
This beach has a small sandy area. An important characteristic is that the sandy area becomes almost entirely submerged during high tide. At low tide, the available space increases, and sometimes a natural pool of calmer waters forms, ideal for a peaceful swim.
The cliffs flanking the beach are a distinctive natural element and provide considerable shelter from the wind. It is also possible to observe a small freshwater waterfall on the cliff face, which adds an interesting detail to the landscape.
Praia do Espingardeiro is known for its more secluded atmosphere. It is a place regularly frequented by local fishermen, which gives it a unique character.
It is important to note that this is an unguarded beach. Access to the sandy area is via an irregular trail on the cliff face, which requires some caution.
