In the heart of Arrábida Natural Park, Creiro Beach and Portinho da Arrábida form a sheltered cove, nestled at the foot of the Arrábida Mountain Range. This area extends eastward from the small village of Portinho, encompassing the area known as Creiro.
The sandy beach features a light hue, and the waters are known for their transparency and calmness. The bay offers different environments; eastward, the sandy area becomes more expansive and inviting, while closer to Portinho, the landscape is punctuated by rock formations.
The marine depths of this area are particularly rich in biodiversity and are part of Professor Luiz Saldanha Marine Park, a natural reserve area. The clarity of the waters makes the location ideal for observing marine life, making it an interesting spot for activities such as diving or snorkeling.
Near the sandy area, it is possible to find the Creiro Archaeological Station, a site that holds vestiges of ancient Roman installations. These ruins, dating back to the 1st century, belonged to a factory dedicated to fish salting, testifying to the ancient human presence and economic activity on this coast.
One of the distinctive visual landmarks of the landscape is Pedra da Anicha, a small rocky islet located a short distance from the coast. Inland, the scenic surroundings are dominated by the green and imposing slopes of the Arrábida Mountain Range, which rise directly behind the sandy area.
