Praia do Americano is situated in the Fonte da Telha area, in Costa da Caparica, Almada municipality. It stretches along a set of dunes shaped by coastal vegetation, facing the Atlantic Ocean.
It is part of a continuous stretch of sand that follows the coastline, south of the Tagus estuary, offering wide panoramic views of the sea and Lisbon port in the distance.
The beach is characterized by light, soft sand, with vast stretches free from intense occupation. The surrounding dunes maintain an ecosystem of salt-resistant plants, giving the place a wilder appearance.
The waters have a cool temperature, typical of the region, and feature moderate waves that allow for swimming without very strong currents. It is common to feel a constant sea breeze, which helps temper the heat on sunny days.
