Located on the Tróia peninsula, in the municipality of Grândola, this beach is situated in the most urbanized area of the peninsula, known as Sol Tróia. It lies on the south bank of the Sado river estuary and faces the Atlantic Ocean. From the sandy beach, it is possible to enjoy a wide view of the Arrábida Mountain Range.
The area to the northwest of the beach borders the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, an important element in the surrounding landscape. The dune system adjacent to the beach is preserved, with access provided via wooden walkways.
This beach stands out for its environment, being classified as urban. It boasts a very extensive sandy area, ideal for walks or simply enjoying the space.
The sea, most of the time, features low swell and calm waters, which makes it pleasant for swimming. These conditions are particularly suitable for wind-dependent water sports such as kitesurfing or windsurfing.
Access to the sandy area is provided by wooden walkways that help preserve the dune system. These walkways include resting areas and are pleasant for peaceful strolls by the sea. For visitors' convenience, toilet facilities are available.
The quality of this beach is attested by several annual distinctions. It is awarded the Blue Flag, an international recognition that commends environmental quality, safety, and provided information.
It also receives the classification of Gold Quality Beach by Quercus, highlighting the excellence of its bathing water quality over the years. Additionally, it is recognized as an Accessible Beach, possessing conditions to welcome visitors with reduced mobility. These awards reflect the care taken with preserving the surrounding environment and the safety of its users.
One of the distinctive natural elements of the region is the presence of a resident community of dolphins, known as bottlenose dolphins.
This area near the beach and the Sado estuary is used by these animals as a feeding ground. Sometimes, with some luck, it is possible to spot these dolphins from the sandy beach, a natural spectacle that complements a visit to the beach.
