Alfarim Beach is located on the coastal area of the municipality of Sesimbra, near the village that gives it its name. Situated on the Atlantic coastline, it shares its surroundings with other beaches in the region, being relatively close to the well-known Meco Beach.
This sandy shore has a considerable extension, reaching approximately one kilometer in length. Its characteristics give it a more wild environment, distinct from more urbanized beaches, making it an option for those seeking a more direct connection with coastal nature.
The waters that bathe Alfarim Beach are typically rough. This characteristic is common to the Atlantic coast in this part of the country.
The path leading to this beach's sandy shore is marked by a long wooden staircase. This structure is the main entry point and a characteristic element of the access to the extensive sandy shore.
Next to the sandy shore, the presence of a system of large dunes stands out. These natural formations border the Mata da Amieira Forest Perimeter. The entire area is recognized as a Protected Area, underlining its ecological and natural value.
The beach owes its name to its proximity to the village of Alfarim. It is interesting to note that the place is also known by some as Praia dos Burros (Donkeys' Beach).
