Ponta dos Corvos Beach is situated on a strip of land that extends over the Seixal bay. This location belongs to the urban area of Ponta dos Corvos, integrated into the town of Amora, in the municipality of Seixal, on the south bank of the Tagus River estuary.
It is a geographical point that allows for different perspectives of the aquatic environment. On one side, it directly faces the vast expanse of the Tagus estuary. On the other, it overlooks the more sheltered waters of Seixal bay.
The beach features an extensive sandy area, inviting to those seeking a riverside space. From here, the landscape opens up over the estuary, allowing views of the opposite bank, including areas of Barreiro and, in the distance, Lisbon.
Turning towards the bay, the view falls upon a calmer expanse of water. This area is particularly noteworthy at the end of the day, when the sunset hues paint the sky and reflect on the bay's surface, creating a scenery appreciated by many, including photography enthusiasts.
Recognized as the first beach officially classified for bathing in the Tagus estuary, Ponta dos Corvos Beach offers the possibility of enjoying its waters. The sandy area is suitable for moments of relaxation and sunbathing.
This place is also popular for other activities, such as strolling, walking along the waterfront, and fishing, which attracts people both during the day and at night. The existence of shaded areas makes it a pleasant spot to spend time outdoors, especially for families.
For greater comfort for visitors, Ponta dos Corvos Beach has some support facilities. There is a picnic area, equipped with tables and shaded areas for outdoor meals, where grills are also available.
Additionally, outdoor showers are available for refreshing and sanitary facilities. During certain periods, safety is reinforced with the presence of a first aid post ensured by firefighters.
The surrounding area of Ponta dos Corvos Beach is linked to important historical activities of the region. In the past, this area included an extensive zone dedicated to cod drying, an industry relevant to the local economy.
Even today, it is possible to detect some physical remnants that bear witness to this activity which marked the history of the place decades ago.
