Nova Vaga Beach is situated on the extensive coastline of Costa da Caparica, within the municipality of Almada. It is located in a more southerly portion of this coast, in a geographical area known as Medos Sul.
Looking towards the rear of the beach, it is possible to observe the natural landscape of the Fossil Cliff in the distance, a scenic element that frames this sandy area. It is directly bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
This sandy area boasts a considerable length, inviting long walks along the sea. It is flanked by a well-preserved dune system that contributes to its natural and wild appearance in some parts.
To facilitate visitor access without damaging the dune vegetation, specific walkways have been created that cross the dunes, connecting arrival areas to the bathing zone.
One of the notable characteristics of Nova Vaga Beach is the frequent presence of wind, which generally blows with greater intensity than at more sheltered beaches.
This natural condition makes the beach particularly sought after by practitioners of wind-dependent sports, such as kitesurfing and windsurfing, who find favourable conditions here.
Away from the more urbanised areas of Costa da Caparica, Nova Vaga Beach tends to be less crowded, providing a quieter environment for those seeking to relax by the sea.
In addition to relaxation, its waves offer good opportunities for practising surfing and bodyboarding. It is also known as an area where naturalism is tolerated in certain areas, always respecting other users.
