Comporta Beach is located at the southern tip of the Tróia Peninsula, belonging to the locality of Carvalhal, in the municipality of Grândola. It is integrated within the limits of the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve, which contributes to the preservation of its natural surroundings. It is flanked by a well-preserved dune system, with pine forests and extensive rice paddies stretching into the nearby inland areas, defining the surrounding landscape.

A Vast Sandy Stretch

One of the distinctive features of Comporta Beach is its size. It boasts a very extensive sandy stretch, several kilometers long. This vastness provides ample space for visitors, even during peak periods, offering a sense of freedom and spaciousness.

Environmental Quality

The beach is renowned for its high environmental quality and excellent bathing water. This commitment to preserving the natural ecosystem is attested by awards such as the Blue Flag, which recognizes the efforts of various entities in the management and conservation of the marine and coastal environment. The beach's natural setting, with the sea and the surrounding forest and agricultural areas, offers opportunities for various forms of leisure. The characteristics of the sea, sometimes with some swell, are suitable for practicing sports such as surfing, bodyboarding, and kitesurfing. In addition to water activities, the existing trails in the adjacent pine forests and rice paddies are inviting for walks and for observing wildlife, particularly birds.

Accessible Beach

Comporta Beach offers various infrastructures designed to ensure access for people with reduced mobility. There are facilitated pedestrian accesses, walkways on the sand to ease movement, and adapted sanitary facilities. Support equipment is also available, such as amphibious chairs or beach wheelchairs, to allow access to the bathing area and greater autonomy on the sand. The existence of reserved parking near the accesses also contributes to this accessibility.
