Situated on the extensive coastline of the municipality of Almada, Bela Vista Beach is part of the well-known Costa da Caparica area. It is located on a coastal stretch further south, accessible after traversing a dirt track that characterises the arrival to this part of the coast, and is part of the Medos Sul geographical unit. It is directly bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Bela Vista Beach stands out as having been the first legalized beach for naturism in Portugal, a status it obtained in 1995. This official recognition created a dedicated and welcoming space for those seeking this way of connecting with nature. While there are areas closer to the entrance where clothing is common, most of the extensive sandy area is reserved for and frequented by the naturist community, offering an environment of freedom and respect.
Bela Vista Beach's sandy area is remarkably extensive and flat, inviting long walks along the sea. As an oceanic beach, wind conditions can be suitable for activities such as kitesurfing, which is sometimes seen practiced here. An interesting aspect of the tides is the formation of puddles and small lagoons in the sand during low tide, creating a different natural environment. For those seeking greater tranquility, walking south along the sandy area reveals progressively more isolated and serene zones. The quality of the bathing water has been recognized over the years, and access to the sand is facilitated by a gently sloping ramp.
