Built in the 18th century by King John V, this fountain was part of a set of fountains for travelers and animals, located on the old royal road between Lisbon and Badajoz.
In a simple Baroque style, it is decorated with details such as volutes and a cross at the top.
It served to provide water to travelers and their animals, with a spout and bowls for drinking.
It is located in the rural area of Pegões, near the EN4, in a quiet environment surrounded by vegetation.
It was restored in 2003, preserving its historical importance.
