The City Recreational Park is located in the Bairro 25 de Abril, in the locality of Alto do Seixalinho, in the municipality of Barreiro. It develops linearly along the Coina River, integrating into the urban landscape and offering direct access to the riverbank.

An Urban Green Space

Inaugurated in 2008, this urban park covers an area of approximately 48,700 square meters. It was designed to offer a vast space for leisure and recreation to the community, providing a natural refuge within the urban environment of Barreiro.

Paths and Environments

The park includes a central square, serving as a meeting and socializing point. From there, various paths depart, inviting relaxing strolls, notably the trail that follows the bank of the Coina River. A notable feature is the area known as the caldeira do Alemão (German's cauldron), where the water level is artificially maintained, creating a unique and tranquil atmosphere.

Nature and Views

Ecological richness is one of the hallmarks of this space, which hosts diverse vegetation, with emphasis on the presence of cork oaks, olive trees, and pomegranate trees. Along its paths, the park offers wide views over the Coina River, the city of Seixal on the opposite bank, and, on days with good visibility, the distant horizon of the Serra da Arrábida.

Recognition

The design of the City Recreational Park received recognition for its landscape architecture. In 2010, it was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Parks and Gardens category, as part of the National Landscape Architecture Award.
