Inaugurated in 2008, this museum centre was born from a profound desire to preserve and share the collective memory of Baixa da Banheira. The project, driven by the community's efforts and, in particular, by the dynamic role of José João da Silva, has solidified as a space where objects donated by the inhabitants themselves transform into narratives about the region's life and past. It is a place that celebrates the tradition of keeping and exhibiting the "old things" that shaped the village's daily life, making them accessible to all.

A Collection of Crafts and Lives

Inside the Museum Centre, visitors will find a diverse collection of artefacts that depict the professions and crafts once common in Baixa da Banheira. From the instruments used by the barber or seamstress, to the tools of the cork worker or locksmith, each piece is a testament to the evolution of work and ways of life throughout the past century. It is a dynamic project that is strengthened by community involvement and the constant sharing of new stories and life experiences, keeping alive the connection between generations.
