Located in the Troino neighborhood, in Setúbal, at the crossroads between Rua Fran Paxeco (formerly Rua Direita de Troino) and Travessa do Carmo.
Recognized as a Property of Municipal Interest since 1977.
The lintel of the main door has a Latin inscription: Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos. This phrase means “If God is for us, who can be against us?” and is related to a biblical passage from the Epistle of Saint Paul to the Romans. In the center of the lintel, there is a bust which, according to tradition, represents a man who would have thwarted a conspiracy.
At the corner of the house, a bust believed to be of D. João II stands out. This is accompanied by two small busts, which symbolize the conspirators involved in an assassination attempt against the king during a Corpus Christi procession.
The story of this conspiracy was recounted by Alexandre Herculano, in his work "Legends and Narratives", in the tale titled "Master Gil".
