The Municipal Gallery 11 is located in the city of Setúbal, more specifically on Avenida Luísa Todi, one of the municipality's main urban arteries. This cultural space is situated in the area known as Bairro Salgado. The gallery is part of a larger complex, sharing the same location with the Setúbal School of Hospitality and Tourism, giving it an atmosphere where culture and education converge.
The site that currently houses the Municipal Gallery 11 has a distinct history. Previously, it was known as the Barracks of the 11th Infantry Regiment, a building with a notable presence in Setúbal's urban landscape. Its adaptation into a space dedicated to culture represents a significant evolution, inaugurated in March 2013. This transformation allowed a part of the city's military legacy to remain present, now under a new guise and with a new artistic vocation.
The primary role of Municipal Gallery 11 is to serve as a venue for art exhibitions. This space is dedicated to hosting temporary exhibitions, with a special focus on visual arts, often encompassing works of painting and sculpture. The exhibitions presented in the gallery sometimes result from collaborations with artistic collectives, providing visitors the opportunity to explore a diverse range of works by different creators and enriching Setúbal's cultural offering.
