Located at the top of Outeiro da Penha, in the Serra de Grândola, providing a panoramic view over the town and the Alentejo landscape.
Built after authorization from the Order of Santiago in 1664, it remains an important site of religious devotion and local tradition.
Small single-story hermitage, with a gable roof, bell tower with bell, simple doors and windows. Inside, the nave stands out with its 18th-century blue and white tile panels, depicting flowers, angels, and fruits. The chancel has an altar and tiles with scenes from the life of Our Lady, dating from 1721.
The hermitage is generally closed, but it can be visited during the festivities of Nossa Senhora da Penha, held in May.
The place is peaceful and invites contemplation. Access is via a dirt road, making it a popular destination for hiking and cycling.
It offers a stunning view over Grândola and the mountains, being an excellent point to admire the sunset and the vastness of the Alentejo.
It is part of the heritage of the Diocese of Beja and is annexed to the Mother Church of Grândola.
