The Moinho de Corroios, also known as Moinho do Castelo (Castle Mill), is located in Corroios, in the municipality of Seixal, on the bank of the Tagus Estuary.
Built in 1403, it was commissioned by D. Nuno Álvares Pereira. This mill has a long history and was once donated to the Carmo Convent.
It is one of the few tidal mills that still operate in the Tagus Estuary region, and has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1984.
The mill suffered significant damage due to the 1755 earthquake and was expanded in the early 18th century. Later, with the extinction of religious orders, it became part of the National Treasury, until it was acquired in 1836 by João Luís Lourenço.
During the 20th century, the mill was also used for rice husking.
In 1980, it was acquired by the Seixal City Council, which restored the building and opened the mill to the public as part of the Municipal Ecomuseum.
