Dating from the 20th century, the Chafariz do Botequim features a structure of utilitarian architecture and simple aesthetics. It has a semicircular plan with a rectangular back, flanked by two pilasters, and topped by a circular pediment resting on a frieze. Its central spout flows into a rectangular tank, maintaining its original function as a water source. The ensemble is complemented by a wall with half-moon benches, inviting rest. A detail that captures attention is the figure of a stone friar, strategically placed in front of the fountain, lending a unique and symbolically interesting touch to the site.

Legacy and Preservation

Built in 1932, the Chafariz do Botequim represents an important vestige of the hydraulic architecture of the time, bearing witness to the evolution of public infrastructures in the region. Its initial function as a public water supply source remains to this day.
