Origin and Refurbishment

The main building of the House of Music has its roots in the early 20th century, having been originally built as a residential chalet. The acquisition of this property by the Montijo City Council allowed for its profound recovery and transformation, adapting it for the functions of a modern cultural facility. This refurbishment, inaugurated on April 25, 2023, sought not only to enhance the existing architectural heritage but also to integrate solutions that ensure a comfortable and energy-efficient environment for its visitors and activities.

A Hub for the Arts

The Jorge Peixinho House of Music constitutes a cultural hub dedicated to the promotion and experimentation of music, honoring the legacy of the notable Montijo musician, Jorge Peixinho. The complex includes an Auditorium, designed to host a diverse program that explores innovation and the intersection of different artistic genres.
