The construction of the current Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição dates back to the years 1880 to 1882. This masonry temple was erected on the site of a previous, much more modest structure, which was made of wood and had a thatched roof.

It is particularly relevant that the predecessor of this church was built by the first settlers of Costa da Caparica. They were predominantly fishermen, originally from Ílhavo and the Algarve, who settled here, highlighting the importance of faith and community in the origin of this settlement.
