The course is set within an environment that reflects the natural beauty of the traditional cork oak woodland (montado de sobreiros), a distinctive ecosystem in the region.

The Playing Course

This golf course offers an 18-hole layout, with a par of 72, stretching over 6,366 meters. Its design was conceived to provide a challenging experience, adapted to different skill levels. The course invites players to an immersive experience in nature, where technique combines with an appreciation of the surroundings.

Scenic Setting

The landscape is a fundamental element in the playing experience at Montado. The course unfolds through an authentic cork oak woodland (montado de sobreiros), punctuated by the presence of vineyards that stretch to the horizon. Along the course, various streams and lakes can be found, which not only visually enrich the scenery but also integrate into the course design, creating strategic challenges for players.

Design Elements

The design of the Montado Golf Course is distinguished by its large greens and holes with particular characteristics. One of the most notable features is the 18th hole, whose green is isolated on an island. This uniqueness offers a distinctive finishing hole, combining scenic beauty with a challenge that demands precision.

Legacy and Update

The original design of the Montado Golf Course is by the architect Duarte Sotto-Mayor. In 2006, the course underwent a significant renovation. This intervention was led by the architect Jorge Santana da Silva, who focused on modernizing the course, aiming to maintain its essence and enhance its harmonious integration into the surrounding natural environment.
