Catarina Eufémia Park is located in the Railway Quarter, in a central area of Barreiro. This green space offers a pleasant contrast to the urban rhythms that surround it, positioning itself as an accessible green lung in the heart of the locality, providing a meeting and resting point for visitors to the city.
Opened to the public in 1939, Catarina Eufémia Park is a landmark with an interesting history. Originally known by another name, this garden was renamed to honor Catarina Eufémia, a symbolic figure of resistance and struggle. Inside the park, it is possible to find a central statue dedicated to her, as well as a tribute to Alfredo da Silva, personalities who mark the identity and memory of Barreiro.
The park features a romantic style, inviting visitors to wander along its curvilinear paths. These paths wind among grassy beds, adorned with shrubs and a variety of leafy trees that provide shade and a serene atmosphere. The water feature, a small lake with a small island, is one of the focal points, complemented by emblematic tree species such as acacias, mulberries, plane trees, metrosideros, and magnolias, which enrich the landscape and the natural environment of the place.
Designed for the enjoyment of all ages, Catarina Eufémia Park is a space for socializing and leisure. For children, there is a play area with synthetic grass, which ensures adequate conditions for safe play. The presence of elements such as small curvilinear ponds adds charm to the environment, making the park an ideal meeting point for those seeking tranquility or moments of outdoor relaxation. It is a space that adapts to contemporary uses, also welcoming visitors with companion animals, for whom specific infrastructures have been designed.
