The church is located in Arrentela, which is part of the municipality of Seixal, in the Lisbon metropolitan area.
It dates back to the late 15th or early 16th century, making it one of the important historical landmarks of the region.
In 1977, it was recognized as a Property of Public Interest in Portugal, standing out for its historical and cultural relevance.
The interior of the church is predominantly Baroque in style, the result of renovations after the 1755 earthquake.
The interior of the church is adorned with tile panels illustrating scenes from the life of Our Lady, offering a glimpse into traditional religious art.
The main altar features gilded wood carvings and includes impressive details such as Solomonic columns and a delicate tabernacle. A painting representing the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament can also be seen.
On the church ceiling, there is a beautiful stucco work, in relief and colorful, depicting the image of Our Lady of Consolation, with the "muleta" (a typical fishing boat of the region) at her feet, surrounded by figures of fishermen, nobles and evangelists.
The space offers a unique experience of tranquility and devotion, ideal for visitors who appreciate religious art and local history.
