Located in the city of Almada, this urban park is situated in the Laranjeiro and Feijó area, marking its presence in the heart of the urban fabric. It is recognized as an important green lung that integrates into the cityscape, providing a contrast of nature within the built environment.

A Space of Grandeur and Vision

The Parque da Paz (Park of Peace), spanning approximately 50 hectares, is the largest urban green space in the municipality of Almada. Its design is credited to the landscape architect Sidónio Pardal, who envisioned it as a place of extensive enjoyment for the population. It was conceived with the intention of rescuing an urban tradition that values the existence of expansive parks within the city's fabric.

Natural Diversity

This park offers a mosaic of natural environments, from vast meadows and lawns to densely wooded areas punctuated by clearings. Through its extensive network of paths, it is possible to discover a remarkable diversity of flora, including firs, pines, cork oaks, olive trees, and cypresses, among the 114 species of trees and shrubs. The lake, with its mallards, and the ponds, are habitats that host various forms of life; it is also possible to spot wild rabbits and blackbirds in some corners.

For those who wish to explore the biological richness of the site more deeply, there is a Biodiversity Station Trail. Marked with informative panels, this trail allows visitors to learn about the natural values and specific biodiversity of the park, which is part of Portugal's national EBIO Network.

Art and Tranquility

The park is not merely a natural space, but also a place that evokes serenity. Its name is symbolically represented by José Aurélio's imposing sculpture, the Monument to Peace, which stands out with its dimensions of 40 meters in length and 26 meters in height. This unique environment invites the quietness of the senses, offering a refuge from urban agitation and an invitation to appreciate a spacious and calm setting.
