In the past, this space was known as "Horta das Pedras" (Stone Garden), serving as an agricultural area. In the early 20th century, it evolved into a social and recreational meeting point, hosting a football pitch, which saw important figures in national football emerge, and a tennis court. Later, it welcomed a skating rink, consolidating its connection to sports. It also functioned as a venue for fairs and markets, including the weekly market, before being converted into the space we know today.
