The remains of the ancient Estaus are located in the historical area of Tomar, between Torres Pinheiro, dos Arcos, and Saboaria streets.
Arches and fragments of pillars can still be observed on the facades of buildings in these streets, which are part of the original structure of the Estaus.
The visible arches are ogival in shape, and some have stones that formed the arcades. These elements help to understand the grandeur of the buildings.
Many of the original structures have been altered, and some areas have been demolished, but the remaining vestiges are an important testimony to the medieval architecture of Tomar.
The Estaus were ancient reception buildings, with several arches and a large-scale plan, which was not fully completed.
The remains allow one to understand the history and urban development of Tomar, offering a view of the medieval city, which is important for those who want to learn more about the local past.
