In Praça da República (Republic Square), in front of the Church of São João Batista (Saint John the Baptist), in a place with a history linked to the old free fairs.
Built in the 16th century by King Manuel I, it was later remodeled in a Mannerist style, maintaining symbols of the king, such as the Cross of Christ and the Armillary Sphere.
