Sorraia River Beach is located in the town of Coruche, within the area known as Bairro Novo. It is situated on the right bank of the Sorraia River, conveniently positioned next to a vast green area bordering the waterway.
This riverside leisure area was formally inaugurated as a bathing zone in July 2021. Its creation followed the Portuguese Environment Agency's certification of the water quality and available infrastructure, allowing it to become an official bathing location.
The beach features a sandy area with a total extension of approximately 1770 square meters. Within this area, approximately 180 square meters are dedicated to zones with natural shade or shade structures, providing alternatives for visitors' comfort. There is also a considerable area, close to 420 square meters, designated for playing games or engaging in sand activities.
The water quality at Sorraia River Beach is one of its distinctive aspects, being subject to regular monitoring. The site has been recognized with the Blue Flag award, which certifies compliance with rigorous criteria for environmental management, safety, information, and services. In 2022, the beach was also honored with the Green Cities Award, and in 2021 it was highlighted as "Revelation Beach".
The Sorraia River is the central element of this river beach's landscape. Its waters and banks create a tranquil and natural environment that invites relaxation and contemplation. Access to the river has been improved, facilitating entry into the water and allowing visitors to enjoy an area where it is possible to stand at a considerable distance from the bank.
