Agroal River Beach is located in the village of Agroal, part of the municipality of Ourém. This place is unique for hosting the main source of the Nabão River, which flows through the beach itself and, at this point, marks a natural border, dividing the territories of Ourém and Tomar.
Immersed in a predominantly green and tranquil setting, the beach is located in an area of natural beauty, offering a serene and refreshing environment, especially valued in warmer seasons, in a geographical context where running water is a precious resource.
Agroal is widely recognized for its cold and clear waters, which spring directly from the source of the Nabão River. Over the years, these waters have gained a reputation for their alleged therapeutic properties, with some seeking them for relief from skin conditions and gastrointestinal problems.
For visitors' enjoyment, a natural pool was created, designed so that people can relax peacefully in the unique waters of the area. The quality of the beach's bathing environment is recognized annually, with the awarding of the Blue Flag and Gold Flag distinctions, which attest to its environmental excellence and good conditions for bathers.
Agroal's importance transcends its bathing function; archaeological remains discovered nearby suggest that this area has been continuously occupied since the Bronze Age. This ancient human presence gives the place a deep historical and cultural dimension.
In addition to its natural relevance and the legacy of the Nabão spring, Agroal is associated with popular legends, such as that of Santa Iria, which enriches the identity of the place with a narrative of tradition. The beach environment also offers leisure and social spaces, including a picnic area and a solarium, which are harmoniously integrated into the natural landscape.
