Located next to the Main Church of Pias, in the parish of Pias, municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere. An interesting stop for those who appreciate history and heritage.
Built in the 17th century, this pillory represents the former administrative autonomy of the region. It is a symbol of the charter granted by the Order of the Temple, which administered Pias after the Christian reconquest in 1146, led by D. Afonso Henriques.
It presents a classic and simple style, consisting of a base, a cylindrical shaft and a capital. In the past, the capital had small sculptures, now deteriorated.
It is a Property of Public Interest (IIP), reinforcing its historical and cultural relevance.
Although there are diverging opinions on the state of conservation and the surroundings, it remains a valuable place for lovers of history and heritage.
Take the opportunity to also explore the Main Church, located nearby, which complements the cultural experience in the village.
