Chamusca Municipal Park is situated in a central area of the town, positioned right next to the Town Hall building. This location facilitates access for those exploring Chamusca's urban center.
The space that today constitutes the park has a history linked to the town's urban evolution. Formerly, in the late 19th century, this area belonged to a large rural property known as Horta da Misericórdia. It was acquired by the Municipal Council in 1888. The transformation of the garden and orchard lands into the current park began in the early 20th century, following the installation of the Town Hall in the neighboring building, creating a new green space for the community.
Walking through the park's paths, it is possible to observe a variety of tree species, some of which originate from tropical regions. One of the highlights is an imposing, large monkey puzzle tree, originating from Brazil, which has become a distinctive element of the park's landscape.
Near the park's main entrance, there is a monument dedicated to João Joaquim Isidro dos Reis, a relevant figure in local history. The monument, created by sculptor Francisco Franco in 1956, features a bronze bust on a plinth. The shape of the plinth was conceived to recall the pillars of the bridge that crosses the Tagus River in Chamusca, establishing a symbolic link between the site and this important landmark of the town.
