The 15th-century Gothic crypt, located under the main altar, is one of the highlights of the Ourém Mother Church. With sculpted columns and impressive vaults, the space is an architectural masterpiece that surprises with its innovative acoustics for the time.
The sculpted stone tomb of D. Afonso, grandson of Nuno Álvares Pereira, is a piece of funerary art with rich and symbolic details, such as coats of arms and floral ornaments.
A place of historical importance, the church was rebuilt in the 18th century after the 1755 earthquake, maintaining its essence as a testament to centuries of history.
Located in the historical center of Ourém, the church is easily accessible and close to other points of interest, such as the Porta da Vila (Town Gate).
