This museum complex is located in the charming village of Glória do Ribatejo, one of the points of interest in the municipality of Salvaterra de Magos.
Situated at the Church Site, as the name indicates, it is in a central area of the village, near the main religious building. This location places the museum at the very heart of the community whose life and traditions it portrays, surrounded by the rural landscape that characterizes the Ribatejo region.
A part of this complex is dedicated to the ethnographic museum. Here, visitors will find a diverse collection of objects and artifacts illustrating the daily life, work, and traditions of the people of Ribatejo over time.
It is possible to observe agricultural tools, household utensils, local craft pieces, and other elements that tell the story of rural life, the trades, and the customs that shaped the identity of this community.
Complementing the ethnographic exhibition, the complex includes the "Traditional House". This area recreates or preserves the ambiance of a typical dwelling from the region in past eras.
Upon entering, visitors have the opportunity to see how spaces were arranged, what kind of furniture and utensils were used in the daily life of a Ribatejan family. It is a way to have a more intimate contact with the living conditions and home environment of yesteryear.
As a whole, the Ethnographic Museum and the "Traditional House" function as guardians of the memory of Glória do Ribatejo and its rural surroundings. The visit allows visitors to reflect on the evolution of local society.
Seeing these objects and recreated spaces helps to understand the historical, social, and economic context in which previous generations lived. It is a valuable opportunity to appreciate the intangible and material cultural heritage of the region.
