Located in Muge, in the municipality of Salvaterra de Magos, Casa Cadaval occupies a vast estate on the left bank of the Tejo river. This location is part of a rural setting characterized by the serenity and natural richness of the Ribatejo landscape, where cork oak woodlands and forests extend in harmony with human intervention.
The history of Casa Cadaval spans more than four hundred years. Its origin dates back to a palace that, long before belonging to the Cadaval family, was the residence of Queen Leonor of Austria in the early 16th century. The property came into the possession of Casa Cadaval at the beginning of the 17th century, through a marriage that united the families. Since then, this vast estate has been managed by women over five consecutive generations, maintaining a legacy of continuity and adaptability.
Casa Cadaval encompasses an extensive area where nature and equestrian tradition meet. Its stud farm stands out, founded in 1648, considered one of the oldest in the Iberian Peninsula, with a rich history linked to important figures in horsemanship. On site, it is possible to observe the presence of Pureblood Lusitano horses. The landscape is also marked by elements such as centuries-old cork oaks, extensive forest areas and vineyards, as well as a lake that adds natural beauty to the environment. The ensemble exemplifies a balanced relationship between human presence and the conservation of the natural environment.
